OPIUM

For fifteen souls

The room behind the curtain.

come closer, and look

There is a second room at Opium, and most who descend never find it. Past the main vault, past the bar, a heavy curtain conceals a chamber built for 15 guests: lower ceilings, lower lights, and a privacy that the city above cannot purchase. What follows is glimpsed, at first, only through the keyhole.

A wide view of Opium's subterranean vault in Bath, side-lit beneath a barrel-vaulted ceiling.

What the curtain keeps

We forgot the city was up there at all. They drew the curtain and the rest of the world simply stopped knocking.
